Many students at OCCC plan to use grants or loans to help pay for college. To begin the request for financial aid process:
- Students must be officially admitted to OCCC. Go to FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid to complete and submit the FAFSA. The school code is 042837.
- Submit the FAFSA as early as possible. The date that students apply and the date that all required forms are submitted can affect the amount of the financial aid award.
- Students will receive an email with instructions how to create an account in the financial aid portal and check their financial aid status. Students should follow the instructions in the financial aid portal to complete financial aid requirements.
After all requirements are met, it may take several weeks for funding to be approved. Students who would like to borrow loans must be sure to complete entrance counseling and a master promissory note at studentaid.gov.
Students are encouraged to carefully consider each type of financial aid available to decide what is right for them, including grants and loans awarded from FAFSA, and scholarships.
