NR 202: Natural Resources Problems and Solutions

This course explores multiple components (ecological, social, political, ethical) of selected natural resource problems. The course uses case studies to illustrate how social and biophysical characteristics of environmental problems influence the methods used to try to solve these problems and their potential for success.

Course Outcomes
  1. Identify the biophysical and social/political components of a natural resource problem.
  2. Describe the interactions and trade-offs among and between biophysical and social/political aspects of a natural resources problem
  3. Describe the limitations of single disciplinary approaches to solving natural resource problems and describe how a transdisciplinary approach can potentially overcome these limitations.
  4. Analyze the trade-offs inherent in natural resource management decisions.
