The Financial Aid Office is here to help veterans and their dependents use their VA educational benefits to cover college expenses. OCCC values the sacrifices of those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and is honored to help them make the most of their benefits. The college is committed to ensuring students have effective access to their VA educational benefits.

Students using any type of Federal VA Education Benefit need to have all their previous transcripts evaluated. It's the student's responsibility to request official transcripts from all previous colleges, as well as military transcripts (Joint Services Transcript [JST] for Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard veterans, or Community College of the Air Force [CCAF] transcripts for Air Force veterans) and submit them to OCCC's registrar. They must also email registrar@oregoncoast.edu to request an official transcript evaluation. The first term of VA benefits may be certified while waiting for transcript evaluation, but no future terms will be certified until this evaluation is complete.

Students using VA educational benefits are subject to OCCC's Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements for purposes of continued VA enrollment certification.

For questions about VA educational benefits, call 541-867-8525 or email finaid@oregoncoast.edu.

VA Delayed Payment Policy (38 U.S.C. ยง 3679(e)): Oregon Coast Community College will not impose any penalty, including late fees, denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or require a covered individual to borrow additional funds as a result of delayed VA education benefit disbursement under Chapter 31 or Chapter 33. This protection begins when the student provides a certificate of eligibility and remains in effect until VA payment is received, for a period not to exceed 90 days from the date the institution certified the student's tuition and fees.

Servicemember Readmission: Oregon Coast Community College complies with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Servicemembers and reservists who must temporarily suspend their studies due to military service obligations will be readmitted to their program without penalty upon return. Students returning from service should contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss reinstatement of their financial aid and/or VA benefits certification.
